Fundraising stories
Let’s Find a Cure began in 2010 when sisters Santina, Grace, and Marina Rizzo turned a heartfelt idea into a powerful movement. What started as a small gathering of friends and family in their home—raising $2,000 for Garvan marked the beginning of their commitment to helping end breast cancer.
The sisters continued to grow their efforts year after year, turning passion into progress and building a supportive community around their cause. But in 2014, their mission took a deeply personal turn when Grace was diagnosed with breast cancer. The cause they had long supported suddenly became their reality.
“Suddenly, these events took on a whole new meaning. It was now very real to us”.
Grace faced her diagnosis with incredible strength and courage, continuing to inspire everyone around her. When she sadly passed in 2018, Santina and Marina made it their mission to honour her legacy by pushing even harder to help find a cure.
To date, the family have raised $170,000 for breast cancer research.
