Chop date - 28th March 2023

Everyone no doubt had a COVID hairstyle. Mine was to let it grow a bit to see what it looked like (I've never had long hair). It wasn't too long until I knew I wanted to donate it to be used as a wig for those have lost their hair through a medical condition.

I instantly looked to see what length it needed to be. 20cm to donate but over 38cm was the magic number in order to make good-length wig. Fast forward three years and my hair is much longer and ready for someone that needs it more than I do. I might just start the process all over again, who knows!

It's taken a lot of patience to get it to the current length and whilst having long hair can be an inconvenience at times, it has really grown on me (pun intended). That's why I feel like two good things should come out of all of this:

Number one, a wig.

My hair donation will be going to Variety, the children's charity. Variety grants wigs to kids who have lost their hair due to a medical condition, through their wig grant. It allows a child to be fitted for a specialised custom-made real hair, suction wig, that gives them increased confidence and self-esteem in their everyday lives.

Number two, donations to a worthy cause, the Garvan Institute of Medical Research.

Garvan does some incredible work investigating many diseases, from the rarest or un-diagnosable and un-treatable to the most common and widespread. The Garvan Institute is a charity that is very close to the Sparro family (my work) and I would like to add to the amazing contributions that have been made so far over the years.

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can. The more people that know about the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
