Steve was born in Agia Paraskevi, Lesvos, Greece on the 15th May 1933 to Efstratios Komninakis and Paraskevi Koutrou, and younger brother to Panayioti.
He migrated to Australia on the SS Continental in 1949, leaving home as a 15 year old. Steve worked in cafes in Forbes, and later had his own business in partnership in Rutherglen & with Leo Giannakis in Tumut. He then owned businesses in Neutral Bay and later with Michael Haggis in Centrepoint.
Steve married Anna Sofis in 1960, and they were blessed with three children, Paree, Lia and Terry, and six grandchildren, Tiana, Olivia, Jack, Steven, Peter and Harry.
Steve passed away in his garden on the 1st September 2021. He was 88 years of age.
Steve will be deeply missed and forever remain in the memory of those that loved and knew him and by those whose lives he touched.
