Running for a cure

I've created this page because I want to make a difference.

In 2020 I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus after returning from an overseas holiday incredibly unwell. Lupus is an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues... with no known cure.

Before my diagnosis, I was a fit, strong and incredible healthy 22 years old. I was training for a marathon and then COVID hit and then I got my diagnosis which was 2 giant spanners in the works. The past year I have lost 4 jobs due to lupus making me an 'unreliable' as a staff member, I have had to defer uni subjects, change my diet, lost friends and family... all because of this disease I did not ask for nor would wish upon anyone.

Some days are great and some days I can't get the energy together to take the bins out. I've been told by many doctors that there is nothing they can do, as there is no cure, but I honestly don't believe them... I believe there is not enough research into this invisible illness.

SO this is why I have chosen to fundraise for Garven Institue of Medical Research. It's been a goal of mine to run a marathon but it's also a goal of mine to kick some lupus butt, prove doctors (and myself) wrong that I can do this despite what's going on and that I can live a healthy life again. 

Any donations will go towards medical research to help find cures for incurable diseases, just like Lupus. I appreciate any donations and if you shared this with many family and friends.

I will be running on August 29th 2021, So let the countdown, training and fundraising begin!
