In December 2021 we lost our beautiful Hannah after a decade long struggle with severe Lupus.
Lupus is a relentless, chronic autoimmune disease that can rob its sufferers of their physical health, mental health, independence and social connection.
Hannah was a regular supporter of the Garvan Institute and their immunology research work, particularly related to Lupus. Every World Lupus Day (May 10) she would encourage friends or family to donate to this cause and to help contribute to the search for a cure.
Last
year Hannah wrote: “Today is World Lupus day... so I’m decked out in Purple!
Hopefully one day a cure will be found for this disease... but until then
hopefully the awareness will spread so we no longer have to suffer in
silence... everyday is still a constant battle to stay well and stay alive.
Some are in incredible pain, some get by fine and you wouldn’t even have a clue
they are sick, but sadly people are still losing their lives- and that just
shouldn’t happen in this day and age. The Garvan Institute do incredible
research around Lupus and other Autoimmune diseases- (Lupus is under the
category of “Immunology”). No pressure to donate- I only put this link up once
a year in case anyone would like to. Otherwise just pop on some purple today in
support of the day”
This World Lupus Day, on her behalf, we are inviting you to donate to the Garvan Institute and support their work towards a world free of this horrible illness. All proceeds will go directly to Garvan and no amount is too little.

Hannah was the most courageous, loving, wise, generous and supportive mother, sister, daughter and friend, despite the battle she fought every day. We miss her more than words can express but we are forever grateful to have had her in our lives and she continues to inspire and motivate us every day.

I only just heard of Hannah’s passing while showing my partner Hannah’s Facebook page as an example of some of the amazing people you can meet through support work (he has recently begun work as a support worker and I worked with Hannah several years ago). I never felt like a single day of working with Hannah in a support worker capacity was actual work at all though - we became mates and I genuinely looked forward to every day we were able to hang out together. I’m so grateful for having known and loved Hannah, and will always have a very special place for her in my heart. X
