Alongside Heart of the Green, two incredible initiatives continue to raise funds for heart research at the Garvan Institute - bringing people together in the same spirit of community, friendship and generosity that Josh was known for.
SkiBUTS - Heart of the Mountain x Retro Boogie
Josh was an active member of the Ski and Board Club at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Since his passing, the SkiBUTS community has continued to honour him through their annual charity event, Heart of the Mountain x Retro Boogie.
Each year the club gathers to celebrate Josh’s life while raising funds for heart research at the Garvan Institute.
Retro Boogie is a ticketed event where 100% of proceeds are donated to Garvan, helping fund critical research into heart disease.
More than just a fundraiser, the night is about community - dancing, dressing up, reconnecting and remembering Josh.
Their goal each year is to raise over $5,000, and every ticket, raffle entry and dance on the floor helps make a difference.
Locky & Benny_LIVE
For anyone who spent nights singing along at the Lansdowne Hotel between 2008 and 2014, Locky & Benny will be a familiar name.
Returning to the stage for a special one-off performance, the duo are hosting a fundraising event for the Garvan Institute in memory of Ben’s brother, Josh.
After years of performing primarily at weddings and private events, the band is reuniting to deliver a two-hour set of pub favourites and dance classics - bringing back the energy of the student nights many remember.
The event is more than just a great night out. It’s an opportunity for friends, family and the wider community to come together, celebrate Josh’s life and support vital heart research.
